Since 1998 Matthew Cyr has devoted his career to helping clients secure their financial freedom. As Senior Financial Advisor with S&B Financial Services, he leads the firm’s initiative to provide comprehensive and clear financial strategies to clients in all stages of life. In addition to working closely with clients, Matthew serves as Financial Services Program Manager, where he ensures the team’s strategies, technology, and planning process are working as effectively as possible.
Matthew has long held an innate desire to help people. After attending college and while serving in the Maine Army National Guard as a combat medic, he worked as a part-time teller at a local savings bank and awakened a passion for helping people save and grow their money. This lead to a series of different positions within Retail Banking and Administration before settling full time into the licensed securities and investment side of financial services. Matthew has also been an instructor with the New England Center for Financial Training for the past 25 years, which allows him the ability to share his knowledge and excitement with others within the industry.
Understanding how complex clients’ financial lives can be, Matthew employs a clearly defined and straightforward process to provide a roadmap based on a client’s stated goals. His investment philosophy centers primarily on managing risk, maximizing return targets, and keeping clients on track to achieve their long-term goals. “It’s important to keep the long term goal(s) in mind in order to weather the inevitable storms that come with any long range planning. My job is to work with the client to create a plan they are comfortable with and employ my expertise to know when adjustments may be necessary. Regular check-ins help to ensure our strategies remain on track and I always encourage ongoing dialogue long after a plan is put into place.”
Matthew lives in Saco with his family. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family & friends, reading, and listening to music.
